Friend In Need
There once was a man with plenty of weed:
A house built on sand filled not his need.
Building an empire with money from sale,
Caused him to think he never could fail.
Money his god and in money he trusted,
But all things he bought he soon found were rusted.
His eyes clearly saw the deceit that was there,
As he cried out, "God do you care? Do you care?"
When he began seeing beyond the veil,
His pursuit for riches seemed trivial and pale.
What was upward was better than weed and money,
And to the believer was sweeter than honey.
Soon came a choice and it looked like a cross,
Would he go with the weed, or count all as loss?
Forsaking it all he made the right choice,
"Come follow Me": thundered God's voice.
He burned all his crop, then doubt filled his soul,
Depression set in at the loss of his goal.
He responded to others with this simple phrase,
When you see what I've seen you'll come out of the haze.
A walk with the Lord sure beats the World's all,
So respond to the Lord and answer His call.
For the Lord is calling, saying "come follow me",
A good way to start is to pray on your knees.
Say to the Lord "I will follow you",
And He will respond, "I'll make you new".
You see your life is much like a race,
And with the Lord you can take first place.
